Italian Floor Lamps

An appealing, specific cultural look that works well for many homes is Italian design. Mirroring a major world culture and world-renown for some of the top brands in cars, handbags and clothing, Italian design is also impressive with lighting fixtures. Italian design overall, in more recent times, has brought a simplistic and minimalist approach to the home. The options might be basic, using neutral tones, natural materials and sometimes even an uncommon material, concrete, but Italian design does wonders for an interior space. Sometimes, less is more, and neutral toned and simple designed lamps can work quite well in any space. The simple design means the pieces can be mixed and matched with other pieces that are not necessarily Italian-made, but contain the same design philosophy in their shape, size and look. Italian design is more about elevating the room with luxury, rather than establishing a certain theme like coastal or farmhouse.

Other Considerations

Italian floor lamps, like other fixtures, need to be measured to make sure they fit into the room. If the incorrect size is chosen, the piece may clash with the room by being too large or too small. If the floor lamp is working really well in the space, consider adding a matching table lamp. Many floor lamps have a matching table lamp – a smaller version of the floor lamp itself designed for smaller surfaces and for task lighting. Italian Glass Lighting will have the same style as Italian lamps, creating a well-rounded theme in the space as each surface, wall and floorspace is matching. When adding a floor lamp to an outside space, such as a deck or covered patio, make sure the location rating is correct. Wet and damp are the choices, and for wet rating fixtures that means it can be placed in a spot that comes directly in contact with water. A damp rating means it will work well under, say, a covered patio where water is present but not in direct contact. Regardless of location, remember that Italian design works well with other pieces that look similar, if not necessarily from Italy themselves.
