Key Features
The Navicula Pendant Light was designed in 2016, and is made to order in New Zealand. Inspired by the natural form of the algae with which it shares its name, the Navicula Pendant Light features a captivating flowing shape. Suspended from a round canopy by two cables, the structure of this modern pendant light is made of thin, curved pieces of responsibly sourced bamboo plywood. Creating a unique combination of bold and soft, the bamboo strips are assembled together to create a curved shape with open slits. Housed within the center of the structure is the LED light strip, which casts light up towards the ceiling. When illuminated, this decorative pendant light casts both indirect, ambient light as well as stunning display of light and shadows on the ceiling. Projecting the image of floating in air just as algae floats in water, the Navicula Pendant Light is ideal for illuminating and making a design statement in any foyer, bedroom, dining room, or living room.
Designed and manufactured in New Zealand, David Trubridge lighting and furniture designs are created to encourage sustainable living in a way that also nourishes people spiritually and culturally. This kind of "cultural design" marries technology with culture and nature to create a design style that's unique to our time--one that's both contemporary and timeless.
