The Tui Pendant from David Trubridge pays homage to the distinctive spirit of the playful Tui, a playful bird native to Aotearoa or New Zealand, known for dodging between branches while emitting a signature call. The fixture itself is a deceptively simple assembly that ships as a flat kit for minimum environmental impact and assembles easily, incorporating potent lamping that sits beneath a single cable and powder-coated aluminum fittings. This lamping and its housing rest inside an open, conical structure made of bamboo plywood curves joined together at multiple points. Its final shape resembles one of the unique white wattles on the throat of the Tui that help channel its call, and it gentles glare from within while splashing out a warm pool of downlight below.
