The Plumen Story
Plumen was founded with a focus on reinventing classic items for today's tech-savvy, environmentally focused world. They started by redesigning the clunky telephone, adding a corkscrew USB cable to the receiver for use with computers, cell phones and other devices. Originally called the Pokia, the name changed to Plumen after another similarly-named company complained.
Plumen also boasts the popular Plumen 001 light bulb, the first CFL light bulb that proved fluorescent light bulbs belonged at the cool kids' table. The Plumen 001 was designed by Samuel Wilkinson in 2002 and was later joined by the Plumen 002 in 2014.
Why We Love Plumen Light Bulbs
Plumen twists things up when it comes to light bulbs and declares energy efficiency can be fun and fashionable. And their unique design doesn't want to be hidden behind a shade, either (at least, not an opaque one), encouraging you to have a daring design scheme that leaves the bulb unabashedly exposed and defiantly naked. Plumen bulbs use 80% less energy and last 8 times longer than the average incandescent bulb.
Fun Facts About Plumen
The Plumen 001 was chosen for the Vogue Fashion's Night Out in Mexico installation, popping from magnums as symbolic champagne spray. Its successor, the Plumen 002 Bulb was launched in 2014 and made available through a Kickstarter campaign.
