Key Features
The Pilar Mixed Column Cone Pendant from Rosie Li Studio amazes as it seems to extend into the sky with a sequence of shapes inspired by the iconic Endless Columns by Constantin Brancusi. This Rosie Li Studio and Mondays Studio collaboration shows a shared focus on primitive, pared-down forms. The studios translate Brancusi’s poetic and architectural metal sculpture using handmade ceramics. Pairs of tapered and rounded shapes sequence beautifully with an earthen glaze that gives them each a sense of personality. A statement-maker while off, the piece turns on to deliver a versatile beam of comfortable downlighting.
After completing a bachelor’s degree in furniture at the Rhode Island School of Design, Rosie Li teamed up with engineer Philip Watkins in 2015 to form Rosie Li Studio. Based out of Brooklyn, NY, the duo embarks on designing geometrically sophisticated lighting and living products that are manufactured and finished by hand. Combining Li’s background in furniture design and Watkin’s expertise in mathematics, there is a strong sense of spatial understanding apparent in each of their lighting and living designs.
