The Hunter Fans Story
In 1886, the foundation for Hunter Fans was laid when John Hunter and his son, John C. Hunter, engineered the first water-driven ceiling fan for Tuerk Water Meter Co. in Syracuse, NY. By 1896, they had acquired Tuerk company, transforming it into the Hunter Fan & Motor Co. and launching the AC-powered Tuerk Type A fan in Fulton, NY. Over the years, Hunter expanded its product line to include oscillating desk fans, pedestal fans, attic fans, air conditioning units, air purifiers, humidifiers and even decorative lighting.

A Fun Fact About Hunter Fans
Before the widespread use of electricity, Hunter's innovative approach led them to create water-driven ceiling fans. These fans operated through a system of belts connected to a water wheel, a fascinating yet location-dependent technology. Since its inception in 1886, Hunter Fan Company has been at the forefront of ceiling fan innovation, claiming the title of the original ceiling fan inventor.
