Key Features
The Damasco 2 Light Wall Sconce from Vistosi is an animated mood setter in the home, filtering light through layers of intricately wrapped glass threads. Said to have grown up in the Murano Glass kilns, designer Paolo Crepax brings a deep passion for glass shown through sculptural forms. Crepax sets the stage for the glass with clean-edged metal hardware. This hardware sits tight against the wall, making the piece a great choice in tight nooks. Standing on top, blown glass shades seduce with gentle curves. In a technique called bozzolo, the shade’s textured glass surface is achieved when molten glass thread is applied to the exterior. This surface texture breaks up the image of the bulb, catches brilliant highlights, and sends out a calm, filtered glow.
One of Italy’s most prestigious and prolific names in Murano glassmaking, Vistosi specializes in hand-blown glass lighting fixtures with an expertise that can be traced to the 1500s. Officially incorporated as Vetreria Vistosi in 1989 with the Moretti family, Vistosi continues to invest in new technologies and methods of production compatible with the historical craft, resulting in an extensive collection of highly decorative yet durable lighting designs.
