The Pablo Designs Story
Born in Venezuela, Pablo Pardo came to the US in the early 1980s and stayed. After getting his degree in industrial design from the University of Cincinnati in 1986, he designed for companies ranging from Fisher Price to Daimler Chrysler before settling in San Francisco. There he founded Pablo Designs in 1993, a lighting company specializing in refined designs that reinterpret light in its many forms.
The company's first successful design was the Piccola Table Lamp that same year. And they've released new products just about every year since, including award-winning contemporary lighting and home furnishings.
Why We Love Pablo Lighting
Pablo Pardo has absorbed all of the experiences in his life--growing up in a family of designers, musicians and engineers, his formal education and industrial design experience--and used them to form a company that takes a holistic approach to lighting design. Pablo Designs' modern table lamps and other fixtures show the company's propensity for experimenting with and developing new technologies and putting them into simple, useful yet unique forms. These forms range aesthetically between cheerful, colorful and sculptural to slim, streamlined and ultra-contemporary.
A Fun Fact About Pablo Designs
The name of the Bel Occhio collection comes from the Italian for "beautiful eyes." The meaning is two-fold. First, it refers to the saying "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Second, the spherical shade and inner cylinder form an eye-like structure and, cradled freely in its base, seems to move like an eye as well.
Noteworthy Lighting From Pablo Designs
The colorful, transparent acrylic base of the Tube Top collection shows the playful side of contemporary design. Its mesh fabric shade is stretched around the top of this acrylic outline, inspiring the lamp's name. On the other side of the design spectrum, the award-winning Link collection is sleek and contemporary task lighting. It modernizes the classic pantograph lamp and uses the most advanced LED lighting technology to date.
