In a righteous repurposing of the seemingly un-repurposeful, the Castor Tank Plated Pendant is fabulously fashioned from recycled fire extinguishers. But one has to have a bit of an adventurous streak to purchase. While finish choice and tank diameter are selectable options, other aspects - specifically tank height and material - are not. Tanks are composed of either aluminum or steel, and range from anywhere to 10" in height.
Rock 'n' roll lumberjacks. That pretty much sums up the punk rock-loving, Toronto-based design team of Castor Design. Experiments in upcycling have resulted in an eclectic array of contemporary lighting and accessories. Castor Design pieces are smart, industrial and elegant--and definitely tongue-in-cheek. Salvaged materials are given a new, bright life, such as old burnt-out light bulbs being turned into a shade for another fixture.
