Key Features
The BM1160 Hunting Table from Carl Hansen brings an intimate mood to the room through its narrow proportions and great attention to detail. Børge Mogensen created the piece for the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers Guild Furniture Exhibit in 1950, one carrying the hunting cabin theme for the year. Mogensen’s work put humans at the center and visual clarity on top. This table gets one’s attention with a bold set of legs that taper and curve gently for an expressive silhouette. Metal bars angle to the sides as contrasting accents. The tabletop invites one in with soft rounded corners and a smooth top. Wood’s natural character shows on top with streaking grain marks and shifting hues.
When he founded his company in 1908 in Odense, Denmark, Carl Hansen was determined to prove that high-quality craftsmanship and efficient mass production could work well together. To this day, Carl Hansen & Son furniture--mostly the continually popular Danish Modern designs of the 1930s through the 1960s--is swiftly produced by hand, combining the best materials possible with traditional woodworking techniques and the latest manufacturing technologies.
