The Ron Rezek Story
Rezek's design career began in 1970 with a bright orange plastic water rescue can designed for professional life guards (and still in popular use today; think "Baywatch"). After that stunning success, he established Ron Rezek Lighting in 1978 to design and manufacture contemporary lighting fixtures (selling the company to Artemide in 2004).
In 1986, Ron Rezek almost literally turned the ceiling fan world on its head when he designed the first truly contemporary ceiling fan, the Stratos ceiling fan. The sleek metal fan did away with traditional ornamentation and blade irons. Other similarly modern, stream-lined designs followed, leading to Rezek establishing Modern Fan Company, still the only company in existence to manufacture only contemporary fans. To this day, Ron Rezek continues to innovate with his designs for Modern Fan and its sister, Period Arts Fan Company (with ceiling fans based on 20th century American and European design movements).
Why We Love Ron Rezek
As an industrial designer and business entrepreneur, Ron Rezek's niche is the new. After all, his long and storied design career has subsisted on his creation of hundreds of contemporary products, including everything from lifeguard equipment to lighting and modern ceiling fans. All Ron Rezek designs minimize unnecessary details to maximize efficiency and the beauty of "pure geometry." And his modern fan and light collections are an excellent example of these qualities. They’re simple without being boring, pure without being severe.

In His Own Words
"I don't think contemporary means a stark white room. I think it means a tasteful alignment of important elements."
