Designer Patricia Urquiola takes what we know as wood and reinterprets its most memorable features in the all-steel Veneer Serving Tray from Alessi. The piece underlines Urquiola's deep curiosity, always examining and reconnecting with things we often glance over. With wood being all around us, Urquiola thought about capturing its artful personality through today's durable material of steel. She does so by emphasizing wood's wavy, artful grain using an embossed process. The wide form of the piece lets the contours spread out and create a curious background for any delectable food item.
