The Risom Armchair from Stellar Works is a mid-century modern standout, cutting out bold shapes in the room with intricate fabric applications. The Iconic C140 chair was used in the White House under President Lyndon B. Johnson’s administration. Johnson was photographed sitting in it signing the Civil Rights Act in 1964 and the Highway Beautification Act in 1965. This piece shares its angular DNA with the iconic C140 chair. Its wood frame guides the eye around with a continuous movement of lines. These lines angle at the back, subtly at the seat, and shoot up at the armrest for great comfort. The seat and the backrest also curve subtly, carving out space for the rich fabrics. The backrests fabric is in a woven design that allows for pleasant air circulation. The seat rest offers an upholstered cushion with a plump yet low-profile form. The cushion jumps out at first sight in its bright, charming color.
Stellar Works specializes in timeless furniture and Lighting pieces inspired by cultural craftsmanship and design movements throughout the 20th century. Each concept is developed and crafted in their Shanghai factory, working closely with artisans to blend Eastern and Western cultures and create a truly unique and modern piece of furniture.
