A common tale for most college grads, friends John Christakos, Charles Lazor and Maurice Blanks found themselves low on cash and unable to afford the cool furniture they wanted for their homes. They decided to join forces and build a company that would offer good design to as many people as possible. Blu Dot was born in 1997 and continues to offer great, long-lasting modern furniture out of its Minneapolis, Minnesota location.

Blu Dot's philosophy is, "Good design doesn't have to be serious," and we agree. Their sense of humor gives their furniture pieces a youthfulness that brings energy to a room. Every so often Blu Dot has a "Swap Meet" where fans vie for a piece of furniture by trading something of their own. A couple memorable winners have been a disco ball helmet in exchange for the Blu Dot Toro Chair, and a vintage mounted Gerenuk antelope head for a Modu-licious #1!
