The Navy Outdoor Lounge Armchair from Emeco employs rectangular aluminum tubing to create an open framework with defined armrests. The cushioned interior provides comfort while the metal structure maintains its institutional heritage. Each connection reflects skilled craftsmanship from Emeco's Hanover facility, where aluminum receives hand-brushed treatment and protective coating. The design translates military furniture specifications into home applications, creating seating that withstands weather exposure. This chair symbolizes the evolution of utilitarian design into residential contexts through careful material selection and construction techniques.

Emeco

Electrical Machine and Equipment Company (Emeco) was founded in 1944 by Wilton Carlyle Dinges in Hanover, Pennsylvania. Dinges' first assignment came from no other than the U.S. government, to manufacture a strong yet lightweight chair that could withstand water, salt air and rowdy sailors. The result was the iconic Emeco Navy Chair, made enitrely out of durable machined aluminum.
