Brass Art Deco Modern Kitchen Semi-Flushmounts

Why We Love Kitchen Semi-Flushmounts

In smaller kitchens where there is not a lot of ceiling to floor space, the room's lighting design can benefit from a semi-flush ceiling light. Semi-flush kitchen lighting is less obtrusive than a decorative chandelier or suspension, but provides you with more flexibility than recessed light fixtures or a fixture that is mounted perfectly flush with the ceiling. And whether your kitchen's design is contemporary, transitional, wrought-iron or mid-century modern, there is a semi-flush ceiling light here for you.

Unlike a typical flushmount, semi-flush ceiling lamps offer a small amount of clearance between the fixture and where it is mounted on the ceiling. The small, suspended appearance plays a decorative role you might not notice with common chandeliers and pendant lights. And many semi-flushmounts take on the shape of bowls or drums, allowing you to find a shape that fits in with your kitchen's existing layout and decor. Whether you choose a semi-flushmount because of limited ceiling space or simply because you appreciate their understated design, you're guaranteed to be happy with your choice.

A Kitchen Semi-Flush Ceiling Light for Every Style

Semi-flush kitchen lighting fixtures are ideal for urban kitchens or when placed in breakfast nooks. Semi-flush kitchen ceiling lights provide ample lighting in small spaces where you do not want to hang a large chandelier or a pendant light. Conversely, in larger kitchens, modern semi-flushmounts like those from Artemide are impressive when used for kitchen island lighting. Instead of a linear suspension fixture or set of mini pendants hanging over the kitchen island, consider arranging two or three semi-flush ceiling lights side-by-side for a similar amount of lighting impact. In kitchens where a window or natural light is not very abundant, you may want to mount a semi-flush light over the kitchen sink or the kitchen table. And finally, if you love promoting energy efficiency in your kitchen, look to the LED semi-flushmounts from Tech Lighting.

Choosing the Best Kitchen Semi-Flushmounts

Although a semi-flushmount is not as dramatic as a grand chandelier or a pendant, you'll still need to be careful in choosing the right fixture for your kitchen. Before you begin searching, measure the space in your kitchen where you plan to install a semi-flush light. Be mindful of important sizing dimensions like the height of the fixture, its diameter and exactly how far it will suspend from the canopy on the ceiling. Next, refine your options by choosing finishes and colors that can easily blend in with your kitchen's color scheme. Lastly, depending on how much light output you need from a semi-flushmount, review its lumen chart and required bulb type. Other Considerations

Keep airflow in the kitchen flowing with a low profile ceiling fan. Similar to the semi-flushmounts featured here, low profile ceiling fans mount close to the ceiling and provide exceptional airflow for the room. You'll be sure to appreciate the extra fresh air in a space that can be overwhelmed by cooking and food prep. And if you don't have any room on the ceiling to work with, you'll need to consider a flushmount or even can lights mounted inside of the ceiling.
