Bowl Modern Kitchen Pendant Lighting

Why We Love Kitchen Bowl Pendants

A bowl pendant or bowl-shaped chandelier has its perfect home in the kitchen. A kitchen bowl pendant adds a bit of style and decor to the room while also providing functional uplighting from its inverted, bowl-shaped shade. Unlike a traditional down pendant or chandelier, these bowl fixtures offer eye-catching washes of light for your ceiling. And whether your kitchen is transitional or contemporary in its aesthetic, you are sure to find a bowl light fixture here you will love.

Pendant lighting is an optimal choice to round out modern kitchens. Pendants, including the bowl shaped pendants found here, offer a significant amount of light for kitchen islands, eating areas, breakfast nooks and they can even be found over the kitchen sink. Where a chandelier might be too large for the space, you'll find a bowl light is a great fit. And most of the bowl lights found here are mounted close to the ceiling, giving you plenty of head room in your kitchen.

A Kitchen Bowl Pendant for Every Style

Bowl lights are often found in transitional spaces due to their shape and modest use of colors and finishes. However, you'll quickly find that certain colors and finishes of these bowl lights have a unique way of working their way into modern kitchens. The fixtures by Maxim Lighting offer substantial uplighting that is at once functional and ambient, making them an ideal fit in almost any kitchen. Hubbardton Forge offers pendants to fit in with a rustic, wrought-iron kitchen space and many them include an energy efficient LED light source. Traditionally decorated kitchens will appreciate the bowl lights by Minka-Lavery and any contemporary kitchen will be proud to host designs from Kichler.

Choosing the Best Kitchen Bowl Lights

With a style in mind to match the layout and decor of your kitchen, the next step is to find the right size for your space. Begin by measuring your kitchen's ceiling to determine exactly how much room you have to work with. Once you know the size of your installation space, start look to common dimension like height, width, weight and suspension length. Keep in mind certain bowl pendants will extend from the ceiling canopy, while others mount in such a way that they hug the ceiling. Review the pendant's lumen chart to identify how bright its uplighting will be and look to its bulb requirement to be prepared with the right light bulbs. Other Considerations

Bowl lights provide a welcomed wash of uplight on the ceiling, but it won't be enough to spread illumination throughout the entire room. You'll need to consider additional forms of lighting to round out the space. Fixtures like recessed lighting mount inside the ceiling and provide a wealth of focused downlight. Or, consider stringing multiple small ceiling lights together for a dramatic look over the kitchen island or the kitchen table. Finally, keep your countertops well lit with an under cabinet lights.
