The Atlas Balancing Log Sculpture by Phillips Collection balances a log of chamcha wood on slender metal figures, and it does so with surprising grace. It's a quiet tribute to the Titan who held up the heavens. The irregular shape of the salvaged timber contrasts with the crisp base, giving the whole composition a gallery feel. On a bookshelf in an industrial-inspired den or a living room sideboard, it rewards a second look, especially when displayed with the other two designs in the series.
