I purchased this chair because it was marketed as eco-friendly, weather-resistant, washable and suitable for outdoor use. Unfortunately, my experience was the complete opposite. When I went to wash the chair, the internal containment had broken and thousands of tiny foam pieces poured into my yard. They spread across the grass, soil and surrounding landscaping, making complete cleanup nearly impossible and creating a serious concern for wildlife and pets that could ingest them. The product listing describes the filling only as "soft beads." However, Foam Labs' own website explains that its beanbags are filled with shredded furniture-grade polyurethane foam left over from manufacturing. Reusing scraps may keep them out of a landfill initially, but polyurethane foam is not automatically biodegradable. No biodegradability certification or testing for this filling is provided.
