Made in Indonesia
The Refractory Glass Sculpture from Phillips Collection presents a raw, rough-edged chunk left in its natural state, much as it was first harvested. Formed of glass, its asymmetrical faces break at sharp angles, revealing ridged fracture lines and tiny trapped bubbles within. A luminous quality shifts as the surfaces catch the light, contrasting with the jagged outline, while a slim post and square plate hold the piece aloft, their clean lines adding a modern counterpoint.
