Avant garde Modern Kitchen Ceiling Fans

Why We Love Kitchen Ceiling Fans

Modern kitchen ceiling fans allow you to effectively kill two birds with one stone by having the desired functionality of a fan in the room, as well as an elegant design that can bring out the character of the space. A ceiling fan will complement your existing lighting and whether your design taste is contemporary, mid-century modern or on the traditional side of the spectrum, there is a ceiling fan here to fit your kitchen.

Ceiling fans are an understated design element of rooms, often overshadowed by dramatic lighting and decor. But a ceiling has the unique ability of being functional -- providing exceptional airflow in stuffy rooms -- and bringing personality to the room's ceiling. In a room that can often be overwhelmed by scents and smells related to food preparation, you'll love being able to turn on the fan and instantly have fresh air. And most designs include an integrated light kit, allowing you to have fresh air and ample illumination.

Kitchen Ceiling Fan Ideas for Every Style

The overlooked beauty of a ceiling fan is that it is able to fit in a variety of decorative styles. From traditional kitchens to those with the most modern elements of decor, the right ceiling fan easily fits its way in. The Altus Ceiling Fan or the Embrace Ceiling Fan are great examples of kitchen ceiling fans with integrated lights that work well with almost any style of kitchen. The sleek stainless steel fans from Modern Fan Company help to complement any contemporary lighting and accessories you may already have in the space, while Fanimation's offering introduces cutting edge design to the room. To bring a sense of energy efficiency to the kitchen, consider a DC motor fan from Emerson Fans. Finally, in smaller kitchens or eating areas like a breakfast nook, you will want to take a look at the assortment of small ceiling fans. For any kitchen size and layout, you're sure to find the right fan here.

How to Choose the Best Kitchen Ceiling Fan

Size is one of the most critical components of choosing the right ceiling fan for your kitchen. Before you begin searching for a fan, measure the space in your kitchen where you plan to install the ceiling fan. Ceiling fans are measured by their blade span (diameter), the size of the fan blades and how many blades a fan has. You'll also need to consider how the fan will be mounted -- some ceiling fans mount flush with the ceiling (hugger fans), while others extend from the ceiling with the help of a downrod. With a style and size in mind, you can then refine all of your options by the fan motor finish, blade finish, color and other important design features. Finally, take a look at the fan's CFM to understand its airflow efficiency and determine how the fan is controlled (a remote control, a pull-chain, a wall control, etc.). Other Considerations

If your kitchen is already filled with light from natural sources or a combination of ceiling lights and sconces, you may prefer a ceiling fan without lights. Many of the available fans allow you to have a light or just have the fan itself, depending on your room's need. Look for any of the available fans where the light kit is listed as optional. And if your kitchen is limited on ceiling to floor height, you'll need a hugger ceiling fan. Hugger fans are mounted flush with the ceiling, allowing you plenty of room in compact spaces.
