Its metal construction is composed of a flat, round base that holds up a slender stem, arm, and shade. The arm can swivel around where it connects to the stem, and the shade can rotate where it connects to the arm, so the light may be positioned in the most convenient place possible. Since 1962, House of Troy has designed and crafted its line of beautifully functional lighting in Vermont. The company actually started several years earlier across the border, founded in 1947 in Montreal, Canada. It was the move to North Troy, Vermont that gave the company the name it has today. Along with the move, House of Troy sharpened its manufacturing focus and perfected its tooling in order to make the best-looking and smoothest functioning picture lights, a category in which the company specializes to this day.
