Key Features

Made in Netherlands
The IJhorst Side Table from Pastoe rests a round wood top on a base built from crossing lines of thin steel wire, each leg bending back on itself before reaching the floor. Constant Nieuwenhuys, better known as a visual artist, arrived at this construction in 1954 while moving from his Cobra-era work toward the ideas behind New Babylon. The wire base draws attention first, its open, crossing lines contrasting with the solid top they hold. Black steel gives the wire its rigidity.

Pastoe

Since 1913, Pastoe has shaped the landscape of Dutch furniture design through a philosophy rooted in clarity, craftsmanship, and enduring functionality. Founded in Utrecht as a small furniture workshop, the company evolved into one of the Netherlands' most influential design houses, creating timeless pieces that balance minimalist aesthetics with everyday practicality. For more than a century, Pastoe has collaborated with some of the country's most celebrated designers, building a collection that continues to define the legacy of modern Dutch design.
