The BM5565 Outdoor Extended Deck Chair from Carl Hansen extends for comfort and folds for convenience. Børge Mogensen created this piece originally for his own balcony, satisfying his need for a space-efficient, durable, and comfortable design. Mogensen’s human-focused design approach rings clear in this function-first piece. It’s crafted with durable wood that patinas in time. This wood is engineered into rounded segments and fitted with understated joinery for a lounging posture and a secure base. This base folds gracefully, making it easy to hang on the wall. A sweeping weatherproof sunbrella cushion on top follows the length of one’s body with cozy and breathable comfort

Carl Hansen

In 1908, Carl Hansen founded his Danish furniture company based on the premise that high-quality craftsmanship and efficient mass production could work well together. And he was right. With an efficient mode of production in place, the company really hit its stride once it started collaborating with a relatively unknown Danish architect, Hans J. Wegner, in the late 1940s (through the 1960s). The Danish Modern designs conceived by Wegner have proven so consistently popular that Carl Hansen & Son continues to make them today.
