A historical design synonymous with European modernism of the 20th century, the GUBI Bestlite BL4 Floor Lamp is a swing arm lamp expertly crafted since 1930. Originally designed by Robert Dudley Best of England, the crisp detailing and industrial style is heavily influenced by the German Bauhaus school of thought. Best applied the philosophy that fine art and craft could coexist to the Bestlite, apparent in the smooth mechanics when adjusting the long arm and the handmade quality of the metal components.
In 2001, Jacob and Sebastian Gubi took over their parent’s furniture business, transforming GUBI in to an internationally recognized design house for lighting, furniture, and accessories. Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, GUBI is a purveyor of timeless and emerging designs, many of which are iconic and can be found in permanent collections around the world.
