Love it but…
I bought this light fixture as part of my renovation. I love the ambiance it gives the room. However, the instructions and installation specs could be better. The connections for the transformer is too short and the transformer itself is bulky and my electrician couldn't get it into the junction box without taking out my ceiling which was recently painted. The alternative is leaving the transformer out and have it sitting right above the top of the fixture. Can't see it inless you are standing at the stairs and looking down but it does have a buzzing sound when it is on. If installation specs were provided online, i could have taken it into consideration or would not have purchased this fixture.
Beautiful fixture, once installed
This review is for the 30" pendant. The photo shown is incorrect, as my fixture has only one single wire from the canopy to the fixture (photo shows four wires...perhaps on the 36" model?). There is also a power feed wire in clear(ish) insulation. The instructions are not very helpful, in fact, they are quite poor. There is a way each piece must go together in a certain order (ceiling canopy, top shade, etc.) which is not difficult to figure out, but took me a few tries, all while working from a ladder. There is no special wiring here, just a straight 120V fixture. The bulbs required are GU-24 base. Does anyone still use compact fluorescent lamps? It would be helpful if the sockets were standard E-26. Or buy adapters. The top and bottom diffusers are acrylic, matte finish. The top is separate, making it easy to change bulbs from the top. I wish the aluminum bracket it sits on had rubber pads, to prevent scratching, but it's not critical. The difference between reasonable and absurd pricing/manufacturers... The wire is fixed in the top end (ceiling canopy side), but the power cable is fixed in the bottom end (at the fixture). This way makes it challenging to get the wire at the correct length, and have the proper slack in the power cable. I am using this is Philips Hue white/color bulbs, and the effect is stunning. It is bright enough to be used as primary up/down general lighting without hesitation. Overall, an excellent fixture for the money.
