Choosing the Best Living Room Chandelier

As with any choice of ceiling light, choosing the best chandelier for your living room begins with its size. First, properly measure the area of your living room's ceiling to gauge just how much room you have to work with. The chandeliers found here are offered in a wide range of sizes making it critical for you to pay careful attention to dimensions like height, width, diameter and hanging length (how far the fixture will suspend from its canopy). If you have a variety of other fixtures in the living room, you may want to check out the chandelier's lumen scale to determine just how bright it will be as an indication of how it might play with other light sources. Finally, with a size, shape and brightness in mind, refine your selection by the colors and finishes that best accommodate your living room's existing decor. Other Considerations

You can accomplish the same decorative and dramatic impact with a pendant. Pendant lights differ from the look and shape of a chandelier in that they often retain a slimmer profile and are hung from the ceiling in a different manner. Multi-light pendants are especially dramatic as they include a group (often ranging in sizes) of pendants all strung together. And when it is time to turn the lights down low, you'll appreciate putting your new chandelier on a dimmer switch. Light dimmers are relatively easy to install and allow you to control the level of light output. For the living room specifically, dimmable light is a necessity.
