Made in New Zealand
The David Trubridge Koura Pendant is named after the Maori word for fresh water shrimp native to the rivers of New Zealand. Comprised of natural bamboo pieces in the shape of the same woven traps used for catching koura, the tear drop shape is elongated, as if being pulled out of water. The ambient light within casts geometric shadows around the fixture as well as highlighting the natural grain of the bamboo.

The Koura Pendant was not that time consuming to assemble and we appreciated the lower carbon footprint and shipping costs due to the flat pack! The fixture hangs proudly in the lobby entrance and casts stunning shadows. We used an LED lamp and it is great!

David Trubridge

After sailing the Pacific with his family for several years, British native David Trubridge landed in Hawkes Bay, NZ, in 1985, and stayed. Inspired by their travels, Trubridge put his skills in architecture and ship-building to use in the design of furniture. A pretty much local business suddenly exploded into an international one when, in 2001, his Body Raft chair was picked up for production by Cappellini.
