The ICO Pendant from Slide refines the familiar kitchen and dining space luminaire with an inventive material and playful silhouette. Creator Studio Pang's work seeks out the playful and ironic. A slender cord suspension gives the pendant a gravity-defying character. The crisp angles and flaring shape of the hanging shade remind one of the classic luminaires. This polyethylene shade sets itself apart from traditional shades as an opaque form that filters light. Sharing the same material, the globe nestled inside helps make the piece glare-free. Every opaque shape receives a clean glow as an ambient downlight filters out.
Founded in 2002 by Giò Colonna Romano, Slide Italian Design produces complete interior design collections by partnering with top designers such as Marc Sadler and Marcel Wanders. Currently managed by Giò’s son, Marco, Slide manufactures each product in Buccinasco, near Milan.
