beautiful concept, not happy with final product
The concept and thought behind this product are beautiful and inspiring. I should have read the description more thoroughly because I was surprised that assembly was required - at such an expensive price. It was simple enough to assemble, but sat in the box for 4 months until I could find the time to sit and figure it out. We purchased this fixture in orange, hoping it would complement our mid-century modern decor and color scheme. It is a really bright, almost neon orange - definitely not a warm, natural orange. Installed and on it provides beautiful light patterns. Unfortunately, you see the harsh intensity of the bulb if you try to look at the design of the fixture while its on, which sort of defeats the purpose of having a beautiful light. All in all, great concept and ingenuity aside, as an architect I don't think I would ever suggest this light to a client.

After sailing the Pacific with his family for several years, British native David Trubridge landed in Hawkes Bay, NZ, in 1985, and stayed. Inspired by their travels, Trubridge put his skills in architecture and ship-building to use in the design of furniture. A pretty much local business suddenly exploded into an international one when, in 2001, his Body Raft chair was picked up for production by Cappellini.
