Whimsical Modern Clip On Lamps

Why We Love Clamp & Shelf Lamps

Anywhere you have a flat surface--tabletops, work benches, office desks or shelves--you can have light. The small bases of clamp lights hold them securely in place, taking up a minimum of valuable work space in the process. This is also true of the lamp itself, which extends out only when you need it, back when you don't. Clip-on lamps are also ideal examples of contemporary lighting design. They are compact, flexible and utilize the latest task lighting technology (especially long-lived LED clamp lights) blending in seamlessly with modern decor.

Where Clamp Lamps & Shelf Lights Work Best

As a versatile and portable style of fixture, this collection of well-designed lamps are easy to introduce almost anywhere a power outlet is nearby. Create a cozy reading area in the bedroom by attaching a clamp lamp to the headboard of the bed. LED clamp lights are especially useful for reading illumination by providing a bright and focused source of light. In home offices and studies, shelf lights are ideal for highlighting collections of books or works of art when a wall-mounted light isn't a good option. Bookcase lighting comes in a wide variety of forms giving you plenty of options to meet your office needs. The same compact functionality of shelf lighting is also useful under other space-restricted conditions in similar work spaces. Living rooms and entryway areas also benefit from clip lamps where they can be used to put the spotlight on items of decor or other elements present in the room's design. In any space where you need an extra touch of portable lighting, a clamp lamp is a go-to choice.

A Clamp Light for Every Style

A key part of a lamp being versatile is its ability to fit in among multiple interior styles. From homes decorated with traditional fixtures to those spaces boasting the most modern of interior design implements a clip-on light has no problem blending in. Artemide allows you to introduce fine Italian design into your home with an iconic collection of shelf lights and clip spots belonging to the noteworthy Tolomeo family of products. Anglepoise's fixtures allow you to highlight photos and works of art in your home while the collection of task lights from Pablo find their home in modern bedrooms and living rooms. And finally, for an energy-efficient option you will appreciate, look to the line of LED lamps from Koncept.

Choosing the Best Clamp & Shelf Lights

Depending on where you plan to place a clamp lamp or shelf light, you'll have a variety of different options available to you. First, you'll need to identify how much light output you want from a clamp lamp. While these fixtures are ideal for reading and office-related tasks, you'll find there are options that offer a source of general, ambient illumination too. Look to the lumens chart to try to gauge exactly how bright a fixture will be. Next, refine your choices the the most appropriate size for your space. Here you will find a range of small clip lights to larger designs meant to be used as picture lights. Remember to review a fixture's height, width and length (for lamps with adjustable arms).
