Avant garde Modern Blown Glass Pendant Lighting

Why We Love Art Glass Lighting

Seeded or etched, pressed or faceted, colored or clear, stained or painted, light loves glass. And as a result of the endless variations of light play that can be achieved with glass, coupled with the individual mouth-blown artistry involved in its creation, it has long attracted the interest of artisan craftspeople. Handcrafted from all over the world, in a wide array of rich colors and unique finishes, art glass lighting is a seamless marriage of form and function.

From the early origins of Murano glassmaking in 8th Century Rome to Ron Henderson’s recent eco-friendly recycled lamps and lighting fixtures for Las Vegas-based Varaluz, the malleable medium continues to be wide open for innovation and interpretation. Hanging over the dining room table or put on display in your entryway or foyer area, these modern glass pendant lights are sure to make a statement.

Where Art Glass Lighting Works Best

Decorative glass pendant lights are meant to stand out in a space, drawing attention and gazes from people staring up at your ceiling. The intricacies and delicate craftsmanship that goes into the design and manufacturing of any of these pendant lights far exceeds what you would find in other ceiling light fixtures. These fixtures find their home in the entryway where they are able to make a great first and lasting impression, or in the dining room where they become the focal piece. In living rooms, mini art glass pendants can be strung from a monorail for an eye-catching design. Finally, consider spreading any of the portable art glass floor and table lamps throughout your home for a truly one-of-a-kind look.

Choosing the Best Glass Pendant Lights

Whether for the kitchen, the living room or the entryway, size is an important factor when choosing art glass ceiling lights. Glass pendant lights are made available in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, making your choices for a hand-blown or glass-blown light nearly endless. Begin your search by properly measure the space of your ceiling where you plan to install the fixture. With a location in mind, you can then refine your options by the most appropriate sizes and shapes paying close attention to height, width, diameter and hanging length (for those pendants that suspend far from the ceiling). Due to the nature of these gorgeous glass fixtures, you'll also find they can expend a lot of unique color in your rooms. Try to choose colors of glass that can easily blend in with your current decor and color palette.
