I looked for years for a good, sturdy, non-ugly floor fan. Went through 2 from DecoBreeze that lasted about 1.5 years, then the motors died. Nowhere to get them repaired. Anyway, I love that the Vornado fan has a 5-year warranty and the parts are metal and NOT plastic! I have the green one, and it's gorgeous!

I needed an attractive, durable fan to cut down on A/C use during hot NYC summers, and this fan delivers. It's not only stylish but powerful enough to circulate air in a large space. It's based on the original 1940s design, so it doesn't oscillate and can be a bit noisy on the highest setting. But these are minor tradeoffs given its quality and aesthetic appeal. Plus, my summer utility bill has already dropped at least $50 since buying it 5 weeks ago—so my purchase will effectively pay for itself in a matter of months. Despite its higher price, it's worth it to me --
