The Uovo Rechargeable LED Table Lamp from FontanaArte carries the egg-derived geometry of its original corded version, but adapts it for untethered use. Ben Swildens conceived the Uovo in 1972 as an object where the shell itself becomes the diffuser, and the portable iteration preserves that relationship between form and material. White satin-blown glass diffuses light softly in all directions. The rechargeable format and the absence of a visible cord reinforce the self-contained quality that has always been central to the design.

FontanaArte

Architect Gio Ponti founded FontanaArte lighting in Milan in 1932 after serving as the artistic director of Luigi Fontana Company. The focus was on stained glass and its awe-inspiring presence in churches and cathedrals. In 1979, the contemporary lighting company is purchased by several private buyers and is revitalized to include well-known architects and glass artists.
