TRANSOM Window Fan

I bought this recently. It appeared to be a new selection, one that is greatly welcomed! It is very quiet and switches from intake to exhaust very easily. If I were to ask for more I would ask for it to draw more air and for a smaller width. (This only fits in one of my windows on the ground floor so I cannot leave it installed.) But very pleased with it. The extenders are included in the box with the fan. That was unclear when I bought it.

Bought two of these and they are fantastic! Set them to create a cross breeze in the house to avoid using the window AC on the not so hot days. It keeps the cool. And they work great for exhausting the warm air already in the house. The only small "bother" is the small areas that aren't covered by the foam inserts. We have screens so we don't get bugs. But it would be nice to have a remedy.

The weather has not been hot enough to use that much but the times I did use it, it worked great just enough of outtake to keep kitchen comfortable

The Vornado TRANSOM is easily the most powerful and elegant window fan I have ever had the honor of seeing or using; while being surprisingly quiet AND weather resistant! As someone who sleeps hot at night, the strong, low height wind generated by the TRANSOM helps keep me nice and cool. Family and friends have also mentioned how much cooler my room feels now in comparison to the rest of the apartment while it is running. I absolutely LOVE it! The unit is pleasantly lightweight despite its size, and installation required no effort once I figured out the correct orientation for the included foam blocks (the manual doesn't specify, so it took a little bit of trial and error). My only real complaints are that the unit lacks of any kind of built-in rear mesh or screen to keep mosquitoes and the occasional carpenter bee out (this is something I'd love to see added in future models or revisions along with an even more powerful speed setting), and that the touch (and even remote) controls can be a little unresponsive at times (I would've preferred physical buttons). The manual states to keep the window screen installed for that very reason but doing so is impossible on the apartment's thin to average size windows (as shown in photos). Overall, I'd HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who wants a powerful window unit without the hassles of installing an air conditioner, or the noise of a box fan. I can't wait to see what future generations of the TRANSOM product line have in store if the first gen is THIS good!

The reason I bought this was to put it in the window love the concept however The closed position that is so marketed means nothing what does it close a damper that doesn't block light or air lol. I see plenty of light around the damper and tons of cold air was flowing through it this morning in this so-called closed position. What is the actual reason or point of the closed position if it doesn't prevent airflow when not in use. Also who's air blew upwards not forward and down. It's a fan it works well but the closed position means nothing.
