Brass Torchieres with Reading Lights

Why We Love Torchieres with Reading Lights

Torchiere floor lamps with reading lights provide ambient uplighting while offering a separate focused downlight as well. The focused downlight is especially handy when doing late-night task work or reading from your favorite comfy chair. Obviously portable, most floor lamps with reading lights are also adjustable, working around chairs and tables so you get the most light right where you need it. And there are numerous styles from which to choose, matching a variety of interior decorating styles.

Where Torchieres with Reading Lights Work Best

In any spot of the home where you would prefer additional reading illumination, look to one of these floor lamps. Place a torchiere floor lamp with a reading light behind a favorite comfy chair in the reading nook. The uplight gives off general, ambient light while the downlight ensures you can clearly see each and every word on the page. These types of floor light fixtures are also great for living room lighting when entertaining, as well as having focused light near a couch or work space for enjoying a magazine, working on the laptop or sorting the mail. The ambient uplighting pairs well with existing fixtures in the room too. And in the bedroom, consider using one of these fixtures in place of a wall reading light. Whatever the need, this selection has a torchiere reading light you are sure to enjoy.

A Torchiere Reading Lamp for Every Style

Thanks to their task-oriented and functional nature, a torchiere reading lamp has the ability to find its home among almost any interior style. And these fixtures offer a well-received amount of complementary illumination too, especially when paired with sconces on the wall or an overhead ceiling light. In transitional homes, look to the options offered by Visual Comfort. The Visual Comfort line combines noticeable good looks with the expert craftsmanship we love from the brand. George Kovacs has torchieres with reading lights to provide a contemporary touch to your living room and if you prefer something that establishes the room as expertly modern, check out the designs from Marset. Finally, to further promote an energy efficient home, look to any of the torchieres using an LED light source.

Choosing the Best Torchiere Lamp with Reading Lights

With a purpose and style in mind, the only thing left to consider when choosing a torchiere reading lamp is its size. Some torchieres are tall to provide a wash of light on the ceiling from the fixture's uplight, while there are a number of designs meant to fit in any room. Look to the lamp's sizing dimensions including its height, width and length (for the adjustable reading light) to find the best torchiere for your space. Next, refine your selection by the appropriate finish and color you need for your home and you will be enjoying your favorite book under the right amount of reading light in no time. Other Considerations

Instead of a wall sconce or torchiere next to the bed for the purpose of reading, you might consider hanging a pendant over the nightstand. Mini pendant lights can elegantly hang at your bedside, providing a source of reading light and unique, eye-catching style.
