Tolomeo with Shade Table Lamp

The ability to place light just where you like it while also having some ambient light makes this a very versatile lamp. With an amply weighted base, the arm of the Tolomeo can be flexibly adapted to changing needs. I placed this lamp in my workspace to escape the flat dreary light provided by the office and it makes a difference that exceeded my expectations. No more seeing black spots from eyes blasted with ceiling mounted fluorescents for 8 hours. What a great product - the flexibility and range allows me to have everything in one lamp instead of two.

The Tolomeo range is the perfect balance of form and function. My only reservation is that an in line dimmer like the one on the Tolomeo Mega would be great, especially in the model with the table base.

Though the all-metal Tolomeo is generally considered the archetype, the parchment shade provides a nice contrast in materials, and lends a warmer tone to both the ambient light and overall visual presence of the lamp. The parchment shade provides slightly more ambient light than the metal shade, making it a good fit for the small offices in this application serving more than "task" duty. The positioning adjustments work generally the same as the standard lamp, though the lamp head in the paper shade version prefers to "hang" more even with the floor.

Yes, it's expensive but with Tolomeo lamps you can't go wrong. I have two of them. The quality of materials and workmanship is impeccable and the design is thoughtful. This is a lamp you'll want to hang on to for a long, long time.
