The Kartell T-Table is a line of tables originated from the creativity of Patricia Urquiola combined with Kartell's capability and technological know-how resulting in new visual and tactile effects. The surface of the T-Table top alternates fullness and space to create an elegant and precious effect which is reminiscent of embroidery. The object expresses very poetic, feminine and extreme elegance born from technological research and experimentaion. The T-Table is available in transparent and matte colors and comes in three different heights.

I use the table outdoors in my zen garden and it adds just the right edge that I was looking for. Sturdy, beautiful, and one of a kind. I love it!

Patricia Urquiola's T Table (2006) for Kartell, is available in three heights and several colors but no matter which you choose they are a sublime combination of sophistication, strength and beauty. I purchased the Tall AND Medium tables (one each) in "Crystal" (A.K.A. Clear) to function as coffee tables in my 640 sq ft apartment. They fill the space well without overwhelming the small living area and are feather light making it a breeze to move the tables as needed to accommodate the space, re-design or guests. The table tops are ample enough to serve dinner from and sturdy enough to put your feet up. Mandatory design features when living in a smaller space. Sunlight subtly dances off the surface creating soft prisms across the room and evening interior lighting creates an equally stunning effect. The T stands for transgenic which means: Of, relating to, or being an organism whose genome has been altered by the transfer of a gene or genes from another species or breed: transgenic mice; transgenic plants. This strikes a chord with me as the table top surface treatment makes me think of ice, similar to viewing my surroundings after an ice storm; gently glistening in a magical way. However, Urquiola sees the the technological research transferred into this innovative surface as reminiscent of embroidery. "I love veils," says the designer, "surfaces you can see through, but not glass." Whatever the imagery provoked, the result is modern elegance and sophistication.

Kartell

Based in Milan, Italy, Kartell was founded in 1949 by chemical engineer Giulio Castelli and his wife, architect Anna Castelli. Originally a producer of car accessories, it was Kartell's experimentation in plastics for the home that made them famous. Stylish home accessories and lighting dominated the 1950s, with the first injection-molded furniture emerging in the 1960s. Since then, the Kartell modern furniture line has only continued to grow, including contemporary chairs, tables, sofas and more--all made out of durable, lightweight and surprisingly comfortable plastic.
