The Santiago De Borja Sapote Vase from Serax features a face painted across its rounded body, framed by two curved, branch-like handles that reach up from the shoulders. Designed by Shirley Villavicencio Pizango, the handles arch outward before meeting again near the top of the piece. Made from stoneware, the vase holds visible brushwork across its hand-painted surface. Each side of the piece features a different painted scene, so the vase changes noticeably depending on the angle from which it's viewed.
