Italian Restoration Lighting & Fans

We We Love Restoration Designs

At the turn of the 20th century, electric lighting in America was still new and amazing. The incandescent coiled filament light bulb was the latest technological wonder. The first lighting fixtures made the most of these bulbs by leaving them exposed or using specially designed glass--fresnel lenses, clear seeded or opalized glass--to maximize light output. Bright and sleekly styled, these early electric lamps are what inspired the selection of restoration light fixtures, fans and the like available today.

Where Restoration Lighting Works Best

Their clean, straightforward designs make restoration lighting the ideal way to add a vintage accent--and an intriguing sense of history--to a wide range of modern decor. While classic by definition, restoration design yet has a sense of modernity, with an industrial edge inspired by the working conditions at the time of its initial conception. Railroads, factories and farms demanded bright light and simple, durable designs. Dome-shaped metal cargo lights, flared farmhouse pendants and bright white schoolhouse pendants fit the bill perfectly.

Favorites For A Restoration Look

These styles of restoration fixtures are faithfully recreated here from popular brands like SONNEMAN Lighting, Fanimation and Robert Abbey, with forms and construction just as enduring as the originals. From restoration-styled ceiling fans to outdoor sconces that fit this aesthetic, you'll find plenty of options to introduce to your home's decor.

Other Considerations

Exposing the bulb of a fixture is commonly found among restoration light fixtures and you will find many of the same pieces here in our exposed bulb lighting selection. And when it comes to furniture, this theme can be complemented by the industrial-styled pieces from Tom Dixon.
