I thought candles on the table was too formal and impractical a look for every day in our dining room. I bought two of these lamps and immediately ordered two more! They give the dining room a more casual and library look. With the fabric shades they definitely warm up the feeling in the dining room and make it an area one would actually use other times of the day, like for reading or doing the dreaded income tax returns!
