The Nomi Rechargeable LED Table Lamp from Four Hands takes a transitional approach to cordless lighting. A ribbed glass dome rises above a cylindrical iron base, its vertical, fluted grooves scattering light to the sides, adding texture without any excess ornamentation.  Compact enough to carry from one spot to another, it runs on a rechargeable battery with a four- to six-hour runtime, and a button built into the base turns the light on and off while adjusting brightness to suit the moment.
