The Navy® Stool, Wood Seat is inspired by the design of the Navy Collection. The needed durability from the Navy Counter Stool, constructed of re-used aluminum, strengthened by a weld and temper technique, showcased the material could be used in a variety of chairs. In 1949, the USA government was in need of a high quality library chair. The creation of the high quality library chair led to a collection of aluminum chairs, accented by distinct finished wood seats. In office spaces and residences, the Navy® Stool, Wood Seat can be applied to the layout with confidence.
First lets make things that last. Thats been the Emeco motto ever since their first aluminum Navy Chair came off the assembly line in 1944. Based in Hanover, Pennsylvania, Emeco is focused on making recycling passe by making furniture that will last forever and never go out of style. Collaborations with designers like Philippe Starck, Frank Gehry, Ettore Sottsass and Norman Foster have contributed greatly to that vision.
