The Mediterrania LED Pendant from Bover is a cunning assembly of natural shapes, with a curving fabric shade tucked over an iron and aluminum frame. Designed in 2019 by Alex Fernandez Camps, its construction is reminiscent of a pearl set into the center of a shell, kept steady by three thin wires that drop from a stepped disc ceiling mount. The potent and power-efficient LED lamping glows from above, combining with bright beams of direct light that peek out through openings in its fabric shade.

The scale of this fixture is wonderful but the informality and not fully worked out details are a little out of sync with the price tag. The dimmer switch for this hasn't yet been installed, but I await seeing how a lower light level may make this look better.

When Bover Lighting began in 1996, it was almost by accident. At dinner with an architect friend, Joana Bover sketched out a lamp on a paper tablecloth. The architect ultimately used the lamp for one of his projects, with great success. This led others to approach Bover about designing lighting for them. Bover's reputation and the demand for her modern lighting quickly grew, leading to the formation of Bover, a lighting design company in Barcelona, Spain.
