The Mano Table Lamp from FontanaArte is one of the more overtly conceptual pieces in the brand's archive. Pietro Chiesa designed it in 1932, the same year he took on artistic direction at FontanaArte with Gio Ponti, and it features a sculpted hand as a structural element that supports the shade from below. The base and hand are made of marble powder and resin with a soft-touch painted finish, while the square-section metal stem continues the same treatment. The shade itself is black fabric lined with white PVC, and the light is dimmable.

FontanaArte

Architect Gio Ponti founded FontanaArte lighting in Milan in 1932 after serving as the artistic director of Luigi Fontana Company. The focus was on stained glass and its awe-inspiring presence in churches and cathedrals. In 1979, the contemporary lighting company is purchased by several private buyers and is revitalized to include well-known architects and glass artists.
