The Magis Story
Italian-based Magis was formed in 1976 by Eugenio Perazzo, an entrepreneur and lover of modern design. A family-owned and operated company, Magis saw the furniture industry as an area for creative invention. In 1984 their "Step" ladder was introduced, snubbed and eventually greatly loved. From that singular success, Magis has grown into a modern design powerhouse.
Step's success was followed by several more iconic chair designs including Stefano Giovannoni's Bombo, Jasper Morrison's Air Chair and Chair One by Konstantin Grcic. Magis' innovative plastic and metal molding techniques inspired the future of furniture design. Since 2011, their products have been distributed in the US by another modern design behemoth, Herman Miller®.
Why We Love Magis Furniture
Furniture is for relaxing in. And Magis furniture is the future of domestic relaxation. The designs are functional, but they're not just your average chair or table. Magis chairs and tables have softer, more rounded edges and many are a unique blend of metal and plastic. Angles are more... angular, and surfaces are smoother. Some of their modern chairs are even made from a single mold (no visible joints!). And with top names like Eero Aarnio, Stefano Giovannoni, Jasper Morrison and Karim Rashid, Magis is a subtle explosion of new ideas.
Fun Facts About Magis
Designer Enrico Perin points out one of the great perks of working with Magis: the food. "We have lots of great restaurants nearby, and many wonderful ideas have been born over a good meal and a nice glass of wine."
