A nurturing design inspired by the forms of ancient fertility vases. Illuminate your rooms softly while adding a natural note through the Madre Table Lamp from Foscarini. It’s a piece by Andrea Anastasio, a designer who enjoys fitting traditional consumer objects with a dual-use setting. He combines the functionality of industrial design with the symbolic nature of conceptual art. Aptly translated to ‘mother’ from Spanish, this comforting piece develops its soft form from that of ancient fertility vases. The curves of the vases’ hips show in the lamp’s gentle curves. It welcomes a placement of dry floral arrangements, showing them with a circular cutout and a pleasant light. LEDs inside highlights the floral arrangements as they fill out the form and exit as a soft, ambient aura.

Foscarini

Founded on the Murano island in Venice, Italy in 1981, Foscarini started out creating blown glass-based lighting. They eventually expanded into other materials (the first being the Havana in 1993), and moved in 1994 to the Marcon area of Venice, into a building that reflected the modern aesthetic of their contemporary lighting. Success led to brand stability and swiftly growing name recognition.
