The Les Femmes Vase from Serax is a wide-mouthed stoneware vessel with a figurative face modeled in low relief across its body, including eyes, a nose, a mouth, and hands flanking the form on either side. Designed by Marie Michielssen, the piece sits somewhere between a functional vase and a sculptural object, its figurative detailing applied by hand during the making process. Two small loop handles extend from the sides, reinforcing the anthropomorphic quality of the form.
