Designer Jean-Louis Frenchin approaches the piece with a poetic view of technology. Frenchin designed the piece to reveal and hide its light. Like a slender beaker, the glass tube conceals the bulbs inside while displaying their energy with a golden, layered design. Looking at the warm tube of light conjures up the same sense of wonder as a magic trick or science experiment. Adding to its otherworldly properties, the tube gets energy from 2 positions on the elegant marble base.
