Isamu Noguchi created the original Cyclone concept as a playful rocking stool crafted in wood with a metal spoke base. A year later, it was expanded into a side table, and in 1957, Hans Knoll suggested taking it one step further to a full-fledged Dining Table. The result is this striking design, crafted based on Noguchi's original drawings and perfect for making a bold statement in any modern dinette.

The laminate top on this makes it a superb work table for the office or kitchen. Mix it with Eames Eiffel tower base chairs

Great design, Knoll's manufacture and service are lacking

This table is really gorgeous in person. It perfectly complements a set of Eames wire base chairs. Unfortunately ordering this table didn't go so smoothly. There was about a six week lead time after ordering before the table was delivered. It was drop-shipped straight from Knoll, so my complaints are all about Knoll, not about YLiving (who was fantastic). When the table arrived they shipped it with some strange freight company that missed their delivery window, tracked mud all over the place, and left right away (despite this supposedly being a white-glove delivery). Moments after they left I opened the box to find the table top seriously dinged on the side, the top laminate cracked, the base scratched and chipped... But they were already pulling away. I called up YLiving and told them what happened -- their customer service was fantastic and they took care of everything. For this reason I'd definitely order from them again. It took about two months for the replacement table to arrive. The freight company was more careful this time and the table arrived undamaged. But there were some alarming differences between the two tables I received from Knoll: * The new table's base has a visibly different paint that seems more durable. The old table's base has a lot of clumps of dirt in the paint, spots where it's chipped, spots where the spindles are poorly connected to the base. The new one is a big improvement but still not perfect (paint is not as even as I'd like). * The new top is smoother and has fewer ripples. * The old table creaks when you lean on it, the new one does not. The new table also has a manufacture date of Dec 09, so I'm not sure why Knoll waited so long to ship it out. Overall I'm pretty surprised at Knoll's lousy, inconsistent build quality. The new one is acceptable, the old one was poorly packaged, poorly shipped, and had a build that fell very short of what you'd expect for $2000. YLiving was great through all of this, but I will have some reservations about buying Knoll products in the future.

Peeling Paint On Base!

I so love the design of this iconic table, and was looking forward to receiving to enjoy during the holidays. Unfortunately, it never made it off the truck, as when the plastic was pulled away from the base by the delivery person, the black paint came off with it. Now I am concerned we have an inferior quality paint product, perhaps a low-volatility product? Green is good, but in general, I have found that these paints aren't as durable as the first generation paints a couple of decades ago.
